How’s that wine cellar coming along?

For those of you that were interested in the creation (see previous posts) of the wine cellar here at Chateau Bouteiller things are starting to move forward at last.

The Chateau is surrounded by too many outbuildings to mention but the ‘cave’ (french for wine cellar) will soon sit under the apartement of Mrs Mac, the Housekeeper (see image above). Next to the chicken coop!

Chickens, wine = Coq au Vin !

The original recipe for Coq au Vin suggested one use a ‘tough old bird’ which brings us back to Mrs Mac :-) Our favorite Coq au Vin recipe will follow shortly.

Many of the staff here have suggested that the ‘cave’ be seriously secured as Mrs Mac has been known to sleepwalk and has even been known to drink in her sleep - strange as she assures us all the time that, other than when asleep, she is teetotal.

Once the new cellar is up and ready we’ll be able to stop storing cases of wine that currently sit all over the place….. in the Boot Room……

Wine everywhere
And in bedrooms….. (guarded naturally!)
