Following on from our selecting a cigar and cutting a cigar we now move on to the proper way to light a cigar.
Remember that your precious cigar can easily be polluted by drawing in the chemicals or gases from using the wrong lighting implement ( such as a petrol filled lighter or the sulphur from a match head). If your cigar has come to you in a tube then, more than likely, the tube is lined with cedar wood. Remove the cedar lining and split into nice tapers. Use one to light your cigar and put the rest into your humidor for future use.
As regards the removal, or not, of the paper band on your cigar opinion is divided and, since it has no bearing on how the cigar will taste will not be addresses by yours truly
